A Living Faith in a Loving God

A little boy was playing in a sandbox. He had his cars and trucks and
plastic shovel. In the process of creating roads and tunnels in the soft
sand, he discovered a large rock in the middle of the sandbox. The boy
dug around the rock, managing to dislodge it from the dirt. Then he
pushed with all his might. But he was a very, very small boy and it was a
very, very big rock. He couldn’t lift the rock and he couldn’t roll it over
the little wall of the sandbox. Determined, the little boy grunted, struggled,
and shoved. Finally, he burst into tears of frustration.
All of this time the boy’s father watched from the window as the drama
unfolded. At the moment the tears began to fall, a large shadow fell
across the sandbox. It was the boy’s father. Gently, but firmly, he said,
“Son, why didn’t you use all the strength that you had available?”
Defeated, the boy sobbed, “But I did, Daddy! I used all the strength I
had!”
“No, Son,” corrected the father kindly. “You didn’t ask me to help.”
With that, the father bent down, picked up the rock, and removed it
from the sandbox.
Sound familiar? We all have rocks to move. We all have burdens to
carry. We all need to go directly to our Father to get the job done. And
we need to teach our children there is a greater strength available to
them.
The most important lesson that we teach our kids is about knowing
and loving God. Christ Church and Open Arms are a parent’s partner
in this task.
If you have not yet found a church that fits
your family, I invite you to try Christ Church. We
have 5 services a week – plus Discovery Hour for
Children at 10:15 on Sunday. I’m sure your family
will love it!
Looking forward to your visit!
